Editorial Policy
1. Mission and Editorial Independence
Riedenstedt is an independent, English-language international geopolitics magazine. Our purpose is factual reporting, analysis, and commentary on geopolitics, security, international relations, economics, technology, diplomacy, and the forces shaping the world beyond borders. This Editorial Policy sets out the standards we hold ourselves to as a genuine news and analysis publication.
Editorial decisions at Riedenstedt — what to cover, how, and when — are made independently by our editorial team on the basis of newsworthiness and genuine public interest. Our operation is independent of commercial, political, and ownership interests. Advertisers, commercial partners, investors, and other business stakeholders have no influence over editorial content, story selection, framing, or publication decisions. The separation between commercial and editorial functions is an inviolable principle of our organisation.
2. Sourcing and Verification Standards
We aim to base our reporting on verifiable, publicly available sources, including official statements, government and institutional publications, and other credible reporting. Where an article draws on an official press release or institutional statement, we make reasonable efforts to represent its substance accurately. We do not knowingly publish fabricated facts, invented quotations, or invented events attributed to real persons or organisations.
Where a claim cannot be adequately verified, we either omit it or clearly frame it as unconfirmed. We distinguish between straight news reporting and clearly labelled analysis, commentary, or opinion content.
3. Use of Real Names and Institutions
Riedenstedt frequently refers to real public figures, companies, governments, and institutions by name, as the ordinary subject matter of geopolitical reporting and analysis. Statements, positions, and events attributed to a real person or entity are, unless presented as analysis or commentary and clearly labelled as such, intended to reflect our understanding of that person’s or entity’s actual, verifiable statements or conduct, based on the sourcing standards described in Section 2 — not invented or embellished for effect.
4. Artificial Intelligence in Content Production
Riedenstedt may use artificial intelligence tools to assist in drafting articles, including research assistance and drafting support. The use of AI tools in our content production is subject to the following requirements:
- AI must not be used to fabricate quotes, sources, events, or persons. Any AI-assisted content is subject to the same sourcing and verification standards described in Section 2.
- All AI-assisted content is reviewed by our editorial team before publication for accuracy, tone, and compliance with this Editorial Policy.
- AI-assisted content is disclosed to readers in accordance with Article 50 of the EU Artificial Intelligence Act on the respective article page where applicable.
- This also applies to social media content: Riedenstedt operates its own dedicated Instagram account, on which AI-assisted video clips, image carousels, and single-image posts summarising selected articles are published; AI assistance is disclosed directly in the caption of each such post.
- We do not permit our Content to be used to train AI systems without prior authorisation; see our Terms and Conditions for our AI training opt-out.
5. Corrections Policy
We correct factual errors promptly once identified, whether found through our own review or reported by readers. Where a correction materially affects the substance of an article, we note the correction on the article itself. We also correct non-substantive editorial errors, such as a broken link or a mis-attributed byline. To report a suspected error, please contact us at support@harbingerpressmedia.com.
6. Right of Reply
An individual or organisation who is the subject of an article and who believes it contains a factual inaccuracy or unfairly represents their position may contact us to raise their concern, and we will review it in good faith in accordance with our Corrections Policy.
7. Diversity and Fair Representation
We are committed to ensuring that our coverage reflects a broad range of regions, perspectives, and sources, without relying on stereotypes of any national, ethnic, religious, gender, or other protected group. We do not use language that dehumanises any group.
8. Complaints and Contact
This Editorial Policy represents our public commitment to responsible, accurate publishing. We review it periodically. Readers who believe we have violated this Policy, or who wish to raise concerns about specific content, are encouraged to contact us at support@harbingerpressmedia.com. We take all such complaints seriously and will respond within a reasonable time.
