The FAO Food Price Index climbed in August, with supply concerns identified mostly behind higher quotations for major food commodities, according to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization.
The FAO attributed the increase to a combination of factors: adverse weather conditions affecting supply outlooks, the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, and logistical challenges tied to Black Sea trade routes. These pressures combined to push prices higher across key commodity categories.
The findings were reported by FAO's News and Media division, based in Rome.
